Andrea’s debut EP, Tides, is out now on all streaming platforms
In November 2020, Andrea released her first EP of original alt-pop music. Recorded in Edmonton, Andrea’s debut six-song EP, Tides, features Rankin alongside producer Jesse Northey (Victory Pool Music, Jesse and the Dandelions). Growing up playing jazz and classical piano and also singing opera and musical theatre, Andrea steers her musical ship in a whole new direction on ‘Tides’. With ethereal vocals and a rich canvas of keyboard and synth, Rankin explores themes of loss, reflection and renewal. Tides explores how our lives come to us in cycles, seasons; in waves of feeling and recognition.
Rankin’s writing celebrate her interest in poetry, authenticity, harmony, dissonance and surprising musical details. Since its release it has been featured on CBC’s Fresh Air and Big City, Small World as well as in Canadian Beats, Cashbox Canada, CupsNCakes Network, Sirius XM, the Permanent Rain Press and Amplify Music Magazine in Canada and in YMX, YVMusicBlog and The Other Side in the U.K.
